Combining BFW with the node impedance calculation ICA
It is possible to combine the BFW procedure with a node impedance calculation (ICA). For this, the procedure is modified in the following way:
-
After each iteration, the impedances are updated at nodes for which ICA is defined as the calculation method.
-
Instead of bi-conjugate Frank-Wolfe, a classic Frank-Wolfe method is calculated.
In contrast to the assignment with ICA, the combination of this method with ICA is not explicitly supported. For this reason, please pay attention to the following notes:
-
In the General procedure settings, the factor for the design volume should be selected so that the turn volumes represent hourly values.
-
Since there is no blocking back calculation, the turn volumes may be above the capacities and therefore the ICA calculation results may be incorrect.
-
The turn volumes are not smoothed over the iterations so any fluctuating values will impede convergence.
